As displayed elsewhere on this site, I'm Tim. I have an interest in a variety of things, mostly centered around industrial automation and mechanization, computing technology, and general self sufficiency.

I have experience in self hosting some services, such as a few different flavors of virtualization services, OpenVPN, WireGuard, AdGuard Home, and Jellyfin. I'm fairly proficient in Python, have had the standard Programming 1 and 2 C++ and Java education, with a pretty small bit of SystemVerilog and VHDL. I have been told numerous times that I have a tendency to reinvent the wheel, where I'll make or do something simply for the purpose of doing it myself. I would defend myself here and say that it isn't out of stubbornness, but out of a curiosity for how things work and how people solve problems.
My intent for this blog site, in addition to making good portfolio content, is to help people who, like me, find an interest in how modern technology stacks work and desire to set them up themselves. As I've dug through online source after online source, I've typically found that there aren't a lot of walk-throughs that cover the topics I'm researching, leading to lots of experimentation and trial and error. I want to create a repository of decent tutorials for the variety of topics that interest me that show:
How to do stuff for the people who just need an answer, and
Explain (to the best of my ability) the surrounding reasons and details for the people who are curious why something is the way it is.
I welcome comments, collaborations, suggestions for content, corrections, and in general, interactions. I hope people who find this content enjoy and appreciate it.
